Actor, playwright and Tony-nominated director Marion McClinton’s authentic portrayal of the African American experience was the backbone for his long-standing relationship with Pulitzer-winning playwright August Wilson. As a formative member of Penumbra Theatre and Wilson’s go-to director for over a decade, McClinton helped define African American theater.
After directing on Broadway and in regional theaters for many years, McClinton returned to Minnesota where he relishes the opportunity to work with top-notch actors such as James A. Williams, Namir Smallwood and Gavin Lawrence, all cast in his 2012 rendition of The Brothers Size.
